SUPPLY IS PERPETUAL

Day by day the manna fell:
O, to learn this lesson well.
Still by constant mercy fed,
Give me, Lord, my daily bread.

These words of a hymn (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 46) turn one's thoughts to the wanderings of the children of Israel in the wilderness, where they were supplied manna continuously for forty years. And not only was their food supply constant, but "they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not," as we read in Nehemiah (9:21). The experiences of the Israelites bear witness to the truth that man's supply is perpetual, invariable, ever available, and fully adequate because God, infinite Mind, is its source. The Bible declares (James 1:17), "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." This statement is just as true and demonstrable today as when it was written.
