I should like to express my gratitude...

I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science by sharing a healing that occurred about nine years ago. Physicians probably would have diagnosed the condition as gallstones. One attack was so severe that I requested a practitioner to come to my bedside.

I shall always be grateful for that practitioner's calmness and confidence, as well as her spirituality, which enabled her to read my thoughts. Although I said nothing of it, my mind had been swinging like a pendulum on a clock between Spirit and matter. I had been afraid I might need an operation, for I was not sure that God could help me. The words of the practitioner came clear and stong, "Well, dear it it's an operation you are thinking of, God's law is operating right here, right now, dissolving all impurities."

This set my thought to work in new channels, and it was then that I realized the practicality of Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 269), "Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts, and exchanges the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul." We proceeded in just this way, listing some of the things connected with an operation and exchanging them for the ideas of Soul. I was shown that I had the best possible physician, even God. Love was my nurse, I saw and it was comforting and soothing, and ministering to my every need. Medicine—yes, I had that too, I realized. Truth was my medicine, and I could partake of it joyously every minute of the day and night.
