I SHALL NOT FEAR

I shall not fear the shadows on my path,
For Love is near to shelter me from chill;
I shall not fear, though in the way appears
The outline of a bare and rugged hill.

Love leads him on a sure and guarded way
who does not turn to wander trails apart;
Love guides across the shadows and the steeps,
And I shall follow with a willing heart.

I shall not fear the wind against my course,
But listen for the "Peace" of Christ's command;
And I shall walk in confidence and calm
With vision cleared and Love's rod in my hand.
