I am deeply grateful to God for...
I am deeply grateful to God for Christian Science, which is His message of truth to this age, and to Mary Baker Eddy, His messenger. It is awakening me to an awareness of God's presence and loving guidance, as well as of the blessings that come with the grateful recognition of His eternal goodness. This Science came into my life at a time when I was yearning for a more satisfying religion and was in great need of joy. I have found it to be completely satisfying and a bearer of great peace and joy.
When I was a new student of Christian Science, I was confronted with a broken home. In my despair I turned to God in prayer, studied diligently the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings, and had the help of a faithful practitioner. One evening after prayerful study I asked God to enable me to hear His voice. immediately this thought came: All that I have of anything is the right idea of it, and from that I cannot be separated. Peace came over me, and I was able to sleep restfully for the first time in three weeks. For days thereafter I felt God's presence with me at every step. I was conscious of it the first thing upon awakening in the morning and the last thing upon falling asleep at night.
While the healing was in progress there were many dark hours, but the darkness was dispelled with the truth of being. In one of these dark hours I prayerfully searched Mrs. Eddy's works and came upon the statement in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 101), "If God is All, and God is good, it follows that all must be good; and no other power, law, or intelligence can exist." This great truth was a delivering angel, and the darkness fled. On another occasion a thought that brought relief from suffering was that God's child could never wander outside of divine Mind.
