GUARDING THE RIGHTS OF CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS

Delaware

The right to the free exercise of religion was given recognition officially during the past year when the Board of Education of the Wilmington public schools granted exemption from physical examination to children of Christian Scientists. The Board of Education ruled as follows: "Pupils will be excused from undergoing physical examination and inspections upon the condition that parents file with the principal of the school a request for such exemption based upon religious grounds and a definite statement that the parents will assume all responsibility for the health of the children."
