In "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany"...

In "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes (p. 210): "Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort. And not only yourselves are safe, but all whom your thoughts rest upon are thereby benefited."

The truth of this statement was demonstrated very clearly in an experience I had many years ago. Until I was twenty-seven years old I had never been able to eat eggs or anything containing the least bit of egg without becoming violently ill. One summer I came to the West to visit my aunt, who was a Christian Scientist. I was not interested in Science at that time, and nothing was ever mentioned about a treatment. I continually reminded her not to give me anything containing eggs, as they always made me ill. I later learned that each time I voiced this condition she cleared her own thought by silently declaring some of the truths of Christian Science.

A few weeks after my arrival I spent some time at the beach, and while eating there one day my companions ordered ham and eggs. For some reason I had a desire to give the same order, and with utter disregard for all my former experiences I did so and ate the eggs. To my surprise I suffered no harmful effects whatever. From that day on I have eaten eggs in various forms, and the healing has proved to be permanent.
