Arch Bailey, C. S., was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, and attended grade and high schools there. He studied at Oberlin Conservatory of Music at Oberlin, Ohio, where he pursued both musical and regular academic subjects. He sought instruction from artist teachers in New York and was associated for eight years with a summer school for Artist Singers at Schroon Lake, New York. He also studied voice in Paris and in London.

Returning from abroad, Mr. Bailey was for four years director of the music department at Iowa State College at Ames. He also taught at the Horner Institute of Fine Arts, Kansas City, Missouri, and in Chicago Musical College, Chicago, Illinois. He has served as soloist in several Churches of Christ, Scientist. While engaged in this activity Mr. Bailey received a healing through Christian Science and soon became a member of a branch church and of The Mother Church. He received class instruction in 1938 and in 1940 opened an office for the public practice of Christian Science. In 1942 Mr. Bailey was appointed as Christian Science Worker at Preston School for delinquent boys in northern California, where he served for two years. After moving to Sacramento he joined First Church of Christ, Scientist, in that city. Mr. Bailey has served his branch church as a board member, on many committees, and in First Church, Sacramento, as First Reader.

Jules Cern, C. S., was born in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Palestine (Texas) High School and attended the University of Texas. After leaving college, he took a special course in advertising. Shortly thereafter Mr. Cern moved to New York City and became Direct-Mail Advertising Manager for a large New York department store.
