Editors Appreciate Monitor
Denmark
We have reason for the greatest thankfulness because of the continued friendly relationship between your Committee and the newspaper editors in Copenhagen.
The Christian Science Monitor has been quoted several times in the daily press and over the Danish state radio. Many commendatory statements have been made concerning our daily newspaper, showing the world-wide admiration for its international beneficent work.

On two occasions the Newcastle journal quoted at considerable length from The Christian Science Monitor, and a Monitor display at Whitley Bay was reported by both the local papers.
Current issues of the Monitor are sent once a week to every editor. Six of these are air-borne. The value of this activity is shown both by the warm appreciation expressed in conversation by the editors themselves and by such instances as the following: A lady who needed employment visited one of our Reading Rooms and told the librarian that many years before she had worked in the advertising office of the Newcastle Journal. The editor, after reading the Monitor which had been sent him, used to put it aside for her. The item which especially attracted her attention was the religious article on The Home Forum page. Finding herself now desperately in need of work, and often passing the Reading Room, she had remembered the Monitor and called in to read. She left with some Christian Science literature.

At present there are thirteen newspapers receiving The Christian Science Monitor in exchange for advertising. The numerous reprints of articles from, and references to, the Monitor in the news columns show the keen appreciation of the editors for this daily newspaper.

Quotations from The Christian Science Monitor are becoming more frequent in the general press. The Manchester Guardian often includes such references in its "Letter from America" column.
