When I was about ten years of...

When I was about ten years of age I injured my thighbone. Shortly thereafter drainage of the wound developed. A surgical operation was performed, but it did not remedy the difficulty, and the drainage continued until long after I reached adulthood. My condition was similar to the one that is described on page 193 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I submitted to another operation, which did not help, and I continued to receive medical advice and attention until I was about fifty years old. Then the doctor said there was nothing more that could be done for me. At this time a friend presented Christian Science to me. I turned to a practitioner and received relief immediately. The complete healing did not come at once, but finally the difficulty disappeared entirely, and it has never returned.

While I was having help from the practitioner with regard to this condition several other physical difficulties and bad habits were healed. My first healing was of constipation. Then the desire for tobacco vanished. The occasional use of intoxicating liquor, which I had believed eased the pain, was soon abandoned. In addition, adequate supply was manifested. I found that when the truth of God's law is applied correctly it cures all our ills.

I am grateful for all the physical healings and for the fact that I am able to work at my trade every day, but I am even more grateful for the understanding of Truth which I am gaining from my study of Christian Science. I want to thank the practitioner who stayed by me so faithfully and all others who have helped me. Above all I thank God for His goodness. My gratitude is great to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the wonderful truth, which heals all sickness and sin.—Fred E. Neal, Long Beach, California.
