THE HEAVENLY GOOD
Heavenly good is always appearing. Earthly evil is never taking place. The primitive nature of man is spiritual. He does not spring from a mollusk or a monkey. He does not have a local habitation in matter or a muscular, vascular, and nervous system to maintain his life. Man's life is divine. He is evolved by Spirit. He is conscious that existence is spiritual.
If we will handle fear and matter as unreal and powerless, and not allow them to control us, we shall realize that life is spiritual and eternal. Matter is not the medium of life. If it were so, there would be something standing between man and God, namely matter. Matter is a misstatement concerning the substance of Spirit. There is no separation of man from God. Even if, as mortals, we seem to suffer, sin, and die, we do so only in a dream. When the dream of materiality is self-destroyed, we awake to life in Spirit. We must not perpetuate error by attaching it to memory. The Bible says (Isa. 65:17), "The former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind."
A complete demonstration of Truth is made in Christian Science when error is completely effaced from memory. If memory is faithful to God, then we can recall only the good. Mrs. Eddy writes (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 210): "Beloved Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them. It is plain that nothing can be added to the mind already full. There is no door through which evil can enter, and no space for evil to fill in a mind filled with goodness."
