We do not use the Old Testament as much as we should. Some parts are very familiar, and rightly so, such as the Psalms, stories from Genesis, chapters the portions with which the average Christian is unfamiliar.
Consider the historical books in the first part of the Old Testament. Here is the story of God revealing Himself in action, in the history of Israel and the life and experience of individual men. There are books of law, holding up ideals of what is just.
