LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

Buenos Aires, Argentina The Standard

In your "Mall Bag" ... [a] critic says, "Nothing called Christian ever was any good." Yet he gives New Testament citations in support of some of his statements, and he apparently believes there is a God. The first two tenets of Christian Science are: "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life. We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God. We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God's image and likeness" (Church Manual by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 15).

The teachings of Christian Science are based entirely on the inspired Word of the Bible. Christ Jesus is our Way-shower, our example. Basic books of this denomination are the Bible, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and other writings by Mary Baker Eddy, and publications by The Christian Science Publishing Society. The paper "Light," to which the critic refers, is not Christian Science literature.
