My first healing in Christian Science...

My first healing in Christian Science was of arthritis. I was much like the woman described in the Gospel of Mark (5:26), who "had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse."

Up to this time I knew very little about this religion, as I had been an active member of a Protestant church. A business associate of my husband's sent me two Sentinels, and the truths I read in them seemed so simple and understandable. I then made several visits to the Christian Science Reading Room in our neighborhood, where the attendants lovingly and patiently answered my many questions. After reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I wanted to know more of the life of the Discoverer and Founder of this wonderful religion, so I borrowed and read an authorized biography of Mary Baker Eddy. Soon church attendance and reading of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly followed. This all was such a joyous and uplifting experience that it seemed almost too good to be true.

I then sought the loving help of a practitioner, who reminded me of the lines on page 84 of Science and Health, "To understand that Mind is infinite, not bounded by corporeality, not dependent upon the ear and eye for sound or sight nor upon muscles and bones for locomotion, is a step towards the Mind-science by which we discern man's nature and existence." I am deeply grateful to say that the healing of arthritis was soon realized and has proved permanent.
