LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION
Whidby Record
Langley, Washington
Whidby Record
In a recent issue of the Whidby Record the writer of a column commented at length on the plea of a Christian Scientist before the supreme court of this state for a temporary restraining order to permit his daughter's continued attendance at a large university without having to submit to a chest X-ray examination.
The comments were so inaccurate and so unfair to the ones involved and to Christian Scientists generally that I cannot believe the writer had given mature consideration to the subject when he wrote this article; nor can I conclude that you would wish to permit such unjust aspersions upon the sincerity and intelligence of the great body of Christian people who constitute the membership of The Mother Church and its more than three thousand branch churches, to stand uncorrected. I therefore ask that you give equal prominence to this correction in your esteemed paper. Your doing so will be much appreciated.
