"HOUR OF DEVELOPMENT"

Are you one who seems to have lost home or friends? If so, Christian Science comes to bring you hope and comfort and great expectancy of good.

At the end of his three years' ministry Jesus knew the nature of the trial ahead of him. He realized also the heartbreak which would assail his disciples, and in his last hours he sought to strengthen them against this attack. First, he told them plainly of his impending betrayal and crucifixion. He also warned them of loneliness and of the world's hatred (John 16:2): "They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service."

But over and above all this, Jesus promised his disciples the great blessing of the Comforter, which would lead them into all truth and turn their sorrow into joy. And to encourage them to hold on through the dark hours, he left them this brief, vivid parable (John 16:21): "A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world."
