In the Manual of The Mother Church...

In the Manual of The Mother Church our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us (Art. VIII, Sect. 24), "Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important." It is with a heart full of gratitude for the multiple blessings of Christian Science that I give this testimony.

Of the twenty-seven years that I have been a student of this Science, about twenty were spent without my husband, as he lived and worked abroad. Therefore I had to bring up our three children, and without Christian Science I do not know how I should have accomplished this. But my understanding that God was the only parent helped me to leave them in His hands when I had to make decisions affecting their health, their schools, and our home. Christian Science met all these needs as they arose, fully and happily.

When my son came to the age when he had to decide on his future career, he expressed a desire to enter the Royal Air Force. As I was afraid of the dangers I thought he would incur, I refused my consent unequivocally, but when he persisted, saying that this was his only desire, I began to wonder whether I really had the right to refuse to allow him to live the sort of life he desired for himself.
