IS YOUR DEMONSTRATION COMPLETE?

At a business meeting the chairman, in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order, before proceeding to new business asked this routine question: "Is there any unfinished business?" This arrested the attention of one Christian Scientist who was present, and she found herself answering mentally: "Yes, I have some unfinished business. I have more than one problem which is in need of solution." Since the problems were of a personal nature, she could not bring them to the attention of the assembly, but she determined to examine them more carefully herself in an effort to find a satisfactory conclusion. Relying upon Christian Science treatment for her help, the student had at first experienced rapid improvement and a marked degree of physical and mental freedom. But the inharmonious conditions had not yielded entirely, and she now realized that the imperfect picture was being accepted as an inevitable fact.

The student appreciated the orderly way in which the business meeting was conducted by the chairman, and she resolved to make an orderly and systematic attempt to dispose of her unfinished personal business. She began by asking herself, "Who or what am I expecting to heal me?" And the answer came, "God, and God alone." She next asked, "Is God's power sufficient for a complete healing, or is it limited, resulting in a partial degree of success?"

"God is omnipotent; He is all-powerful. Therefore," she reasoned, "healings which come from God must be complete. But I have not been healed. Perhaps God does not care for me so much as He did formerly, or so much as He cares for someone else." To refute this argument, many familiar Bible passages came to thought. These brought the assurance that God is divine Love, always caring for His creation, man, with absolute impartiality. He is never indifferent to man's needs. "Then who or what is responsible for my failure to experience complete healing?"
