Bath, Somerset, England (First Church).

On Sunday, December 31, 1950, Christian Scientists from all over the Bath area gathered to mark another step in the progress of their activity by dedicating their church in Charlotte Street. In 1906 a group of two or three people met in a room at Milsom Street to read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. The first public service was held at 7 Station Road, Lower Weston, on December 30, 1906. They continued there for almost a year, until better accommodation was found at 7 Old King Street.

In 1909 more suitable rooms were taken at the Assembly Rooms, and the following year the group, being properly formed in accordance with the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, became Christian Science Society, Bath.

In 1919 new premises were acquired at 4 Alfred Street, and in 1925 the society became First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bath. At the same time a church building in Charlotte Street was purchased, the first service being held there in December of that year.—Bath and Wilts Chronicle and Herald.
