"The best sermon ever preached is Truth practised and demonstrated by the destruction of sin, sickness, and death": (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 201). I am very grateful that I can testify to the healing power of Truth.

Before I came into Christian Science, the Bible was a closed book to me. I thought of God as an unknown power that brought both good and evil, and I thought Christ Jesus was the cause of all our troubles. Then I heard of Christian Science and began to attend the Wednesday evening testimony meetings and the Sunday services. As I listened to the truth that was expounded week after week, I began to see some light. The Bible became a book of knowledge and guidance, as spiritually interpreted by Mrs. Eddy through Science and Health. Needless to say, I soon began to know God as the tender, loving Father-Mother, bringing good only to all of His children, and as I read how Jesus healed the sick, reformed the sinner, and raised the dead, I began to recognize his true character.

I was joyous when I was able to prove the healing power of Christian Science in small ways, but I wondered if it would work in more serious problems. During World War II, I enlisted in the Navy, and the physical examination I had at that time showed that there was a large tumor in my stomach. I was not alarmed, but went to a practitioner. I had several hemorrhages and was in a very weakened condition, and when the problem did not yield to Christian Science treatment, I became alarmed. I then went to a doctor and was told that an immediate operation was necessary. The day before the operation was to take place, I again called the practitioner, who helped me to know the truth of man and his relationship to God. I never had the operation. It is now more than four years since this occurred, and all evidence of the condition has disappeared. I am most grateful for this healing, for much spiritual growth was manifested.
