The members of our churches in the state are, no doubt, quite familiar with the fact that the New York State Disability Benefits Law, Section 235, went into effect on July 1, 1950, and orderly provisions whereby Christian Scientists may claim their exempt status under the law were made available throughout the field earlier in the year.

Members are largely familiar with the provision for the exemption of children of Christian Scientists in junior and senior high schools from certain sections of previously required portions of the State Health Teaching Syllabus, and the numerous steps covering a four-year period which were necessary prior to the unanimous passage by our state legislature and the subsequent signing by Governor Thomas E. Dewey of the following amendment to the law:
