TRUE PRAYER HEALS INSTANTANEOUSLY

God is Mind, Life, Truth, Love—the infinite, ever-present, adorable One. The activity of Mind is the conception of numberless ever-appearing, glorious spiritual ideas in the likeness of its own all-inclusive being. The compound idea of God is the real man. As this complete, true idea, manifesting all perfect qualities, appears to human thought, it corrects the false concept, the supposed activity of so-called, mortal mind, and in this correcting office God's true idea is known as the Christ. On page 323 of the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes, "The true idea of God gives the true understanding of Life and Love, robs the grave of victory, takes away all sin and the delusion that there are other minds, and destroys mortality."

The true idea of God is gained by mortals through prayer. True prayer is conscious communion with God. To commune with God, as understood in Christian Science, is to realize unity with Him; and that unity is the unity of effect with its cause. In such realized unity alone can the true idea be gained and the healing and saving effects of the Christ be felt. When prayer is truly communion with the divine Mind, the healing of mortal discords is instantaneous.

Since the conceiving activity of Mind must reflect the nature of Mind, this activity is wholly timeless. The ideas of Mind are ever active in divine consciousness. Reflection of this activity is therefore an uplifting experience, fresh with inspiration and joyous expectancy. It is spontaneous and dynamic—the grateful adoration of the adorable Mind, Life, Truth, Love. Ideas appearing during true prayer as new ideas are vivid revelations of eternal good. Though familiar statements of truth may be employed in the attainment of true prayer, every statement used takes on new meaning as communion with God is experienced. The student of Christian Science finds it profitable never to repeat or read a statement of truth without demanding from the experience some new view of spiritual reality. Words then become aflame with meaning, and each meaning comes with the present power of the Christ to destroy the errors of sense. Thus time is eliminated as a factor in prayer, and time ceases to appear as an element in the healing which results.
