More than three decades ago I...

More than three decades ago I asked my mother if I might go to the Christian Science Sunday School attended by three much-loved cousins, and permission was given. In all these years I have not been interested in using material remedies, human philosophy, psychology, psychiatry, or astrology for the solution of my problems. I have found in Christian Science a way of life that is fully satisfying and equal to the vicissitudes of human experience. In addition to all of this, to have the promise of complete salvation as revealed in Christian Science, as well as to witness the spiritualizing of my consciousness, is joy unconfined.

Doctors told my parents that I should never grow to manhood because of a frail constitution. This pronouncement was not fulfilled.

When I was about twelve and a regular attendant at a Christian Science Sunday School, my father took me to a doctor, who said that I had mumps and gave me some pills to take. However, I relied wholly on Christian Science through the ministrations of a practioner whom a devoted aunt called at my request. The result was that when I had to visit the doctor a short time later to please my father, the doctor said I was well and could not have had mumps.
