"MIND. THE ONLY I, OR US"

Moses , the great Hebrew lawgiver, was the first to discern and teach that there is but one Supreme Being, who is the only creator; who cannot be seen by mortal sense, but whose presence can be felt, known, and demonstrated.

When Moses asked God for His name, God said to him (Ex. 3:14), "I AM THAT I AM: ... Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you."

Christian Science teaches that God is Mind. This word Mind, when understood as meaning the one great cause, explains creation; for could Mind exist without its manifestation, man and the universe? Mind can never be without an expression; for clearly if Mind ceased to manifest itself, there would be nothing by which Mind could be known, and at that moment Mind would cease to exist. Mind, God, is thus known only through its ideas, its creation. If it were possible for the numbers zero to nine to disappear, humanity would know nothing of the science of mathematics. Mathematics is therefore known through the numbers by which it is expressed. From this it can also be seen that numbers exist as a part of the fact of mathematics. Without numbers mathematics would not exist, and in the same way without Mind's manifestation, or expression, Mind would not be known, for there would not be any intelligence to know it.
