Since I have benefited from the protection and inspiration of Christian Science for more than fifteen years, this written testimony to all the good that my family and I have enjoyed is long overdue.

The first healing with which I was consciously associated was a revelation to me. Soon after I recognized the truth of Christian Science, our infant son was threatened with pneumonia. A practitioner was engaged on the case, but the child did not seem to respond to treatment. Returning at evening from work, I found great fear manifested, and the child, to mortal standards, very ill.

I knew nothing about giving Christian Science treatment, but went and sat with the child, reading aloud from our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and endeavoring to find peace and comfort for my wife and myself. The words hardly seemed to register, but within the hour I realized that all that we, humanly, knew how to do had been done; that the wee one was in God's care; that God had not lowered His standard; and that our only work was to know these truths and trust Him. Leaving the child with this thought, I went to supper—a very woeful supper, though we endeavored to maintain our stand and to manifest gratitude and hope.
