DIVINE PROTECTION

A Student of Christian Science was preparing to make an extended motor trip with her family. Their itinerary included mountain areas as well as congested metropolitan districts. When it was apparent that her husband assumed she would relieve him at the wheel, she began to reach out to God for thoughts of protection and guidance.

The reassuring words of the Psalmist (121:8), "The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore," brought her the certainty of God's supremacy and the realization of the indestructible relationship between God and His idea, man, whose real being is and always has been spiritual. She perceived that if she expected to see divine protection manifested in human activity, a conscious sense of God's omnipotence must be firmly established in her thought.

During the busy days of packing and final arrangements she listened for the angel thoughts which unfailingly accompany the humble desire for enlightenment. "The spiritual consciousness of stability, peace, security, and direction which permeates our home life is ours to experience in unlimited measure wherever our travels take us," she reasoned. She saw that their vacation experience would be rich in satisfaction and harmony in proportion to their acceptance of these divine qualities into consciousness.
