So many blessings have come into my life since I took up the study of Christian Science that I am impelled to express my deep gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving us this wonderful truth. It is indeed the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus, for I have found that whenever I have obeyed the laws laid down for us in the Bible and in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, it has never failed to comfort, help, and heal—whatever the problem.

Christian Science was brought to me by a friend when I was in great distress from acute laryngitis, having been unable to use my voice for over a fortnight. I had suffered from this and kindred nerve complaints each winter for many years.

My friend borrowed the textbook for me, and after five days, in which I did little but read Science and Health, she introduced me to a consecrated practitioner. The practitioner talked to me about God and His love, never mentioning the discordant condition, much to my surprise, as it seemed so evident. However, after a day or two I realized that I was healed, and this healing has been permanent. Although I have had many healings since, that first one has always stood out like a beacon to encourage and help me on my way. I am most grateful that I was freed during the following year from the smoking and social drinking habits.
