Signs of the Times

The Rev. William Barclay in an article in the Expository Times Edinburgh, Scotland

There is a deep, abiding joy in the sense that we are God's children and that nothing can separate us from the love of God, for the companionship of God is the end of fear. ...

"Your joy," said Jesus, "no man taketh from you." Into a gloomy and a pessimistic world ... he brought a joy that none else could give and that no one could ever take away. It is different from all earthly joys because it is the joy of conquest. The fear of the world is conquered, because it is God's world and in every corner of it there is the presence of the God who is love. The chances and the changes of life are conquered, for behind them all is God in perfect wisdom, love, and power working for the best. The fear of death is conquered, for he who is our Master is the Lord of death, and his victory is our victory. Wherefore lift up your hearts, for "your joy no man taketh from you."
