THE WORLD'S LIGHT

"O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles" (Ps. 43:3). This direct appeal to God evidences a desire to trust in Him for divine guidance.

Many are those who gratefully acknowledge that Christian Science brings to light the supremacy of spiritual knowing over human belief. They accept Mary Baker Eddy's answer to the question, "What is God?" on page 465 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where she writes, "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love."They also accept the fact that God's creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas, not of mortal thoughts. Spiritual knowing is knowing the character and nature of the infinite and perfect Mind, God, good, and of man in His image and likeness. Spiritual knowing destroys error. It reveals the way of salvation. When we let go of error by refusing to think thoughts that do not express the character and nature of God, spiritual knowing is attained. This attainment enables one to understand that real peace, which is a quality of God, is to be realized here and now by the individual. By holding thought steadfastly to the one Mind, God, we can express and practice thoughts of peace and love for our fellow men.

In the proportion that anyone separates between God's spiritual thoughts and unreal, human beliefs and accepts only spiritual thoughts, in that proportion will he experience a harmonious adjustment in his affairs and bear witness to that which is divinely natural. What a glorious opportunity each one has to devote time and practice to gaining a clearer spiritual understanding of God and man, as taught in Christian Science!
