I wish to express my deep gratitude...

I wish to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science and for all that it has meant to me and my family. While I was farming with a friend, part of a heavy plow fell on my foot, wounding it and tearing the shoe. My friend was much concerned and feared that bones must be broken. However, my little son, who was with us, and I silently knew the truth that accidents are not known to God, and that man in God's image is the same after as before a seeming material mishap. "The scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468) was also a great inspiration. The foot was washed, and a clean piece of gauze was tied around it. I telephoned a practitioner for help, which was lovingly given. The following day the foot appeared to be weak and much swollen, but I was able to do all the work as usual. In two days I was completely healed, with no trace of weakness or swelling, although I was constantly on my foot and walked some distance to our group meeting.

We have experienced many instances of the ever-presence of God. Some time ago our son was playing near a recently burned-out straw-stack and got some live ashes into his shoe. He was brought home in great pain, and much of the skin of his foot was peeling off. I telephoned to the same practitioner for help. Before I had even got back to the child, all crying had stopped, and he had turned away from matter to God, the source of all goodness. He had no more pain, and in a few days there was no trace of a burn left on his foot.

Christian Science has been a great help to us in caring for our three young children, and I do not know how people manage without it. It is indeed a very present help in trouble, and when honestly applied, it cannot fail to dispel fear; and when the fear has gone, man in God's likeness is clearly seen.
