GROWTH
Step
day by day into the human scene
As if along your garden path in spring
You walked with eager notice of each green
Unfolding frond and each first blossoming.
Do not expect to see each man the same
As yesterday. Growth rises like a flood;
In hearts of men Truth's upward forces frame
New stem, new leaf, new imminence of bud.
Be nourisher of newness. Penetrate
With rays of fresh awareness promptly through
To where man's universal talents wait.
Let hand of Him who fashions all things new
Pour warmth of healing through the searchlight beam
Of your perceptive and alert esteem.
