THE RAVEN AND THE DOVE

Let me not like the willful raven be
Who, finding no relief,
From sea to sea flutters most restlessly,
And flees back to the waiting ark no more.

But let me rather be the patient dove
Who sees not yet the leaf,
So, biding her sweet message trustingly,
Returns in peace to that still open door.
