EVIL IS LOSING GROUND EVERY HOUR

The human family is experiencing a deeper, more worldwide ferment than ever before in human history. Politically, socially, economically, in the realms of religion, medicine, education, and natural science, irresistible forces are working, overturning, and bringing to light what is wrong and temporal as a prelude to its giving place to what is right and eternal. These are the forces of progress; and the forces of progress are the forces of thought; and the forces of true thought are the forces of Mind, intelligence, God.

Why must there be this ferment? Why so much hardship for so many people? Why need there be recurring strikes, economic disturbance, the threats of war, and grave uncertainty as to the attainment of harmonious living and enduring peace? Why cannot the nations behave as right-minded individuals and arbitrate their differences? Why, yes, Why?

Satisfying answers to these questions are found in the Science of Christianity taught by Christ Jesus, now discovered and its practicality demonstrated in Christian Science. Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" thus explains the reasons for these world disturbance (p. 540), "The muddy riverbed must be stirred in order to purify the stream. In moral chemicalization, when the symptoms of evil, illusion, are aggravated, we may think in our ignorance that the Lord hath wrought an evil; but we ought to know that God's law uncovers so-called sin and its effects, only that Truth may annihilate all sense of evil and all power to sin." What is going on is, then, the uncovering by the relentless force of divine law of all wrong-mindedness as an essential step in the annihilation of evil by the forces of deific Mind.
