Feeling so much gratitude for the help and encouragement that have come into my experience since taking up the study of Christian Science, I desire to give grateful acknowledgment through the following testimony.

My mother heard of Christian Science and obtained the textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, early in 1920. This book proved to be the soundest investment that ever came our way. When I arrived home the day it was purchased, my mother said, "You may have it by night, but I must have it by day." I could not leave it alone; every spare moment was spent reading this wonderful book. I did not consider that I required physical healing; in fact, I did not come to Christian Science for that, but for the pure logic of its teaching.

In 1910, some ten ears prior to hearing of Christian Science, I desired to yet away to sea, since there did not seem to be an opening for me on shore. Because of spinal curvature I had been dismissed by the railway company where I was employed, and I had obtained an opening as a steward on a ship going to Australia, but the dock doctor stated I had pronounced spinal curvature and displaced heart. He said I should never cross the equator. This was later confirmed by various doctors during the First World War.
