"Fear Not"

John Bishop, M.A. The Christian World Pulpit London, England

Our Lord is our supreme example. He was an encourager. He encouraged himself in God. When his friends forsook him and fled, he was able to say, "I am not alone, because the Father is with me." Prayer was his deliverance from every depression, his equipment for every enterprise. His heart turned to prayer like the compass to the north. Every hour of crisis found him deep in prayer. It was because he so constantly encouraged himself in God that he was able to encourage others.

The world needs encounters, and if the Church of Christ is not putting heart into men it is failing in its mission. ... We believe in the direct and immediate relation of God to men. We believe that God is love and that He sent His Son that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have eternal life. We shall not help others to share that faith by discouragement and complaining.
