Spiritual Sense and Atomic Force

Christian Science reveals the fact that the universe, including man, is the reflection of God, Spirit, and is therefore spiritual. Within this universe of Mind's creating man lives and moves and has his being. The understanding of this fact shows plainly that the errors of mortal sense, whatever their name or nature, are in the realm of the finite and temporal; they are the unrealities and not the truths of God and man.

Thus we see in the practical application of this teaching of Christian Science the annihilation of such beliefs as bodily disease and suffering, the dissolving of tumors, the healing of decay, whether they be manifested in the experiences of mortals or in the plants of the field. So-called material forces, under the light of Spirit, are seen to be counterfeits of the divinely constructive forces. Any seeming capacity of these material forces to manifest destructiveness can be arrested and annihilated by the moral and spiritual forces of Truth. In proportion as the understanding of spiritual Truth and its forces is attained are we able to put it into practice.

If fear tempts us to become dismayed over the appearing of giant weapons of destruction or of anything which savors of evil, we may well ponder the example our Master, Christ Jesus, when confronted with the claims of mortal mind. Whether stilling the tempest, healing sickness, casting out sin, or overcoming death, he was undaunted, for he knew the power of God to be unfailing. Jesus knew that there is no so-called destructive force, whether it be velocity of wind or the ravages of disease or of disintegration, that can wipe out a spiritual idea.
