Christmas—1944
"Sing, ye joyous children, sing,
Glorious is the Christ, our king."
So run the lines of one of the Christian Science hymns; but if one consults the testimony of the material senses. December 25 in the year of our Lord 1944 finds in a war-wracked world a doubtful setting for Christmas joy or celebration. Even the countries from which the hurricane of conflict has passed, present pictures of desolation and destruction which defy description. And yet, does not the very awfulness of the plight of tens of millions of our brethren bespeak the need, as possibly never before, of the redemptive light of Truth?
