Laborers for the Harvest
An axiomatic truth in the divine order is that every individual idea of God has its place to fill, its work to do, to the end that infinite Mind, or Life, may be fully manifested. No laggards or drones are conceived by, or known to, the all-constituting omniactive Mind.
In human experience some mortals express more willingness to be usefully active than do others. To some, the making of a living seems so demanding as to preclude much in the way of unselfish service. Yet, in making a living each one has hourly opportunity to give something for the good of others. The Science of Christianity reveals that the one certain way to real life and genuine happiness for you and me is through unselfed service, under God to our fellows. We are not made to get. We live to give to others what God gives to us. No truly happy individual lives in a shell. "Whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister," said the Master.
Useful living and unselfish serving are found all about us: the mother in the home, giving unstintingly to those in her care; the employer and employee in a wide range of activities, which contribute in most cases to the well-being of our society; the men and women in their country's service, in civilian or military roles; that thoughtful army devoting itself to youth's education and betterment; and those who, within or without religious organizations, are striving to bring to humanity greater spiritual light, and make plainer the way in which we may walk with our God.
