I indeed received a "pearl of...
I indeed received a "pearl of great price" when Christian Science was presented to me years ago. As a child of eight, I listened to my elders discuss a healing one of them had had of an eye condition, and I knew that if God could heal this one, He could heal me also. Physicians had declared the ulcers on my eyeballs to be incurable, but through the knowledge of God's love for His child, they were destroyed, and I was soon strong in body and free from this difficulty. My mother also laid aside glasses, which she had worn for many years. There was a great change in our entire home life, happiness and joy replacing constant sickness.
Years of trust and faith in God, filled with evidences of His loving care for His children, slipped by. Later a daughter and a son were born, without pain. When they were troubled as children, they would run for the textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and we would read and talk about the truths contained therein until all discord vanished. Our son's healing of a fractured ankle was the most outstanding one during these years.
The accident occurred on a Friday, and that evening we started reading and studying, declaring the truths we knew. Great help was gained from the verse in Hebrews, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." We thought the ankle was sprained. The following Monday our son left on a Boy Scout Eagle tour for ten days, and the condition caused him no difficulty. Later, in short-distance track work, an X ray was taken, because one ankle was a little larger than the other, and the trainer wished to find out the condition of the ankle. The young man thanked God with deep sincerity, for it was a very beautiful healing.
