In An Open Letter" which appeared in a recent issue, reference was made to Christian Science. This calls for a brief reply, for which I shall appreciate space in your columns. It would be difficult to find a sentence farther from the fact than the statement made by your correspondent relative to Christian Science.

Christian Science is founded squarely on the life and work of Christ Jesus, as recorded in the Bible. Every fundamental doctrine of Christianity which he there lays down is taught in Christian Science, as may readily be seen by reading the Tenets of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. These are to be found on page 497 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

Wholly refuting our critic's statement, two of these Tenets read as follows: "We acknowledge Jesus' atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man's unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death;" and, "We acknowledge that the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection served to uplift faith to understand eternal Life, even the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter."
