Christian Science was brought to my attention through the healing of a close friend of a severe case of chronic indigestion.

I had always been considered a delicate child, and because my parents believed the body to be a machine I was dieted, exercised, and dosed continually, and always without lasting improvement, until Christian Science found me.

After my marriage and the birth of my first child, old symptoms were greatly aggravated, and when at the age of eighteen months our baby passed on, I collapsed with nervous prostration. Later, when I was able to be about, the doctors advised an operation. In the meantime my friend had been urging me to try Christian Science, but because I had no faith that it would heal me, some time elapsed before I consented to give it a trial.
