About eight years ago, as I sought the true spirit of the Christ, my attention was turned to Christian Science when I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which a neighbor had lent me.

Though the statements contained in this book were contrary to most of the beliefs I had previously held about God and His creation, I somehow knew that here was the truth I had been seeking. I knew at once that I desired to enroll our two children in the Christian Science Sunday School, where they would gain the right understanding of God, but mortal mind argued that my own beliefs were too deeply rooted to be changed, and at that time, not knowing how to overcome this erroneous argument, I despaired of ever demonstrating the truth in my own personal experience.

A period of mental turmoil and intense physical suffering followed, and finally the truth that I had been slowly turning away from hope of healing through material means dawned upon my consciousness until I realized that I should rather lose with God than win through any other means without Him. I sincerely desired to have the Bible and the Christian Science textbook to study, and a member of the literature distribution committee supplied these books. A Christian Science practitioner was sent in answer to my call. Healing of wrong beliefs followed and health was gradually restored. I was healed of thyroid ailment and of many conditions believed to have been caused by this disorder. For the past six years I have been entirely free from these ailments, for which I am grateful.
