For the numerous blessings that I have been privileged to receive through God's healing power, I have vowed repeatedly that I would, in part, pay my gratitude to God, Christian Science, and practitioners, by giving testimony, and in this way share my experience with others. During a period of procrastination, I have been reminded of the command given in the Bible, "When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed."

In my first healing, there was an awakening from a material sense of things to the great truth that there is a basic Principle upon which to build, that is the one and only sure foundation. In turning away from what seemed to be a suffering, wretched mortal, I began to glimpse the basic truth, as taught in Christian Science, that man is created in God's image and likeness, therefore is perfect and forever so remains.

At an early age I experienced great suffering. Many physicians were consulted and a variety of medicines prescribed and taken, which resulted in little or no help. Examinations and diagnoses by specialists followed, each bringing a new type of treatment, rubs, baths, electricity, and other local operations. These all meant nothing more than continued suffering. Then it became necessary to take pain pills, also anesthetics had to be administered for temporary relief, although these seriously affected my heart.
