Meeting Goliath with Understanding

The world problems of today may be likened to that of David when he stood before the blustering Goliath. Cruel, warlike thinking, such as was represented by the Philistine giant, Goliath, is as alarming now as it was in David's time.

Through the childlike simplicity of his confidence that God was always with him, the boy David gained a firm hold on spiritual power, which sustained and protected him in surmounting tremendous obstacles; thus he was armed with spiritual assurance when he met and vanquished the giant, Goliath, who boastfully defied the God of Israel.

David early learned the value of right thinking. He trusted his heavenly Father, proving his faith by his brave deeds. His steadfastness in holding to spiritual truth enabled him to conquer evil, and prepared him for the role of the most brilliant and best-loved king in Bible history.
