Many years ago Christian Science came into our home through my mother's healing of chronic bronchitis. For a long time she had not been able to speak above a whisper, but a few days after she had asked a practitioner for help, she was permanently healed.

Several years later, when I was teaching in a normal school in Pennsylvania, a severe case of nervous indigestion manifested itself. Not being relieved by the doctors, and remembering my mother's quick healing, I wrote to the same practitioner in a distant city, and in one week I was completely and permanently healed.

Then I was curious to know how this had been brought about. I had been since childhood an ardent student of the Bible, as well as an active worker in an orthodox church. My curiosity led me to purchase "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and to begin the study of Christian Science in earnest.
