Joy springs from sweet conviction based on God's omnipotence,And, blooming, makes a fertile vale of desert ways of sense.Joy, as a golden link, unites man's hopes to Mind's designThat forged with steadfast selflessness lets Truth's own purposeshine.

With joy abides that tranquil poise no mortal view can sway;Our Father's gift earth cannot give, nor men can take away!It strikes the chord of harmony for songs in deepest night,And lo! where darkness claimed to reign there breaks a guidinglight.
