Bible Notes

[The Biblical citations given in the Christian Science Quarterly are from the Authorized King James Version. The Bible Notes in this column can be used, if deemed necessary, to elucidate some of the words or passages contained in the Bible Lessons. The Notes in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon designated to be read in Christian Science churches on February 9, 1941.]

"Ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us" (II Cor. 3:3)—Goodspeed suggests the rendering: "You show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by me;" while Moffatt has: "You make it obvious that you are a letter of Christ which I have been employed to inscribe."

"Not in tables of stone" (II Cor. 3:3)—It may be recalled that, according to Exodus 24:12 and Deuteronomy 4:13, the Decalogue was inscribed upon two "tables of stone."
