Many blessings and much protection have resulted from...
Many blessings and much protection have resulted from my study and application of Christian Science. About a month after the stock market crash in 1929, I found myself without work. I had left school to work, but for some time had realized that I had made a mistake, and I wanted to return. These hopes were, however, shattered when the wave of depression reached our home, so I tried to find another position.
I felt quite depressed, for I knew that I should continue with my education, and yet the need seemed very great at home. I was a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School, so I knew that I could turn to God for help. I made frequent visits to our Reading Rooms, which were oases to me. One morning, while setting about my duties for the day, I constantly repeated these words from page 494 of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." I knew that this truth had been proved by our Leader, and that it was given to us to prove. I cannot begin to tell the great joy which filled my consciousness. For the first time, I was willing to rely on God entirely and to do whatever He guided me to do. I felt like a new person, free and trustful. While on an errand for my mother later in the day, I met a man whom I had not known before. During our conversation the subject of employment came up. He told me to inquire at the company where he worked. He did not think I could get a job, because I did not know anyone in the corporation. However, I felt certain that God was leading me all the way. I applied for work and was at once accepted. Besides meeting my need for full supply, the hours were such that I was able to return to school full time and continue my education. I shall always be grateful for this demonstration, for I was shown that I must let God lead the way and then I must follow His direction.
I am very thankful that I have had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School, and that now I have the joy of being an active worker in the organization.—Webster D. Palenz, San Francisco, California.
