In February, 1932, my wife was taken ill with sinus trouble. She had undergone an operation two years before for this difficulty, and had great fear. Not being able to leave her bed, she asked for Christian Science treatment. The practitioner arrived about four o'clock in the afternoon and spent about twenty minutes with her.

The practitioner said to me on leaving, "If you will go to the Reading Room and borrow Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, and read it to your wife until she is able to read, it will be a great help." This I gladly did, because I was seeking an opportunity to see the healing efficacy of Christian Science proved beyond any doubt. Imagine my surprise and joy at seeing my wife about her work the next day! This indisputable proof of the power of divine Mind filled me with a sense of deep gratitude, and I have been an earnest student of Christian Science from that day to this.

In less than three weeks of study of Science and Health I found myself healed of constipation, hemorrhoids, sore back, and neuralgia of the teeth. At the end of six weeks I was completely healed of the tobacco habit of thirty years' standing, and of the drinking habit of twenty years' standing. I was so filled with joy, and was so pleased with these demonstrations of the efficacy of Christian Science to heal, that I thought I should not need any help other than the textbook for any ailment. However, in a short time I received a deep burn on my foot from molten steel. After two days, fear got the better of me, and I asked for help from a practitioner. From then on the healing was rapid.
