Permit me to reply to your comments on my article in Samfundsliv. Christian Science directs thought away from the body, "resolves things into thoughts" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 123), and maintains that the real man is wholly spiritual and that evil is unreal, and this system thereby separates itself from all others. The Christian Science view may be summed up in the following citation (ibid., p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual."

The last chapter of the Christian Science textbook, entitled "Fruitage," contains testimonies from many people who, through the reading of this book, were healed of the severest diseases and experienced a spiritual renewal.

One who is studying mathematics applies the rules to solve the problems at hand at the stage in which he may find himself, and is gradually able to solve more difficult problems. Thus it is also with the study of Christian Science. It is not a mere theory, but requires that one prove his understanding by his works. Christian Science when correctly understood heals the sick and sinning. This is evident from the testimonies of spiritual healing, which may be found in the monthly and weekly periodicals published by The Christian Science Publishing Society or heard at the weekly testimony meetings held in Christian Science churches throughout the world.
