It is recorded in the New Testament that Jesus appeared on a certain Sabbath in a synagogue in Nazareth, where he read to the congregation from the book of Esaias, and that when he had finished, "the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him." We who have felt the effects of Christian Science understand the eagerness of that congregation to hear the reading, for it was known that the Word which Christ Jesus declared carried power and healing.
